Revlon ColourBurst Lip Butters

Just in case you've been living under a rock for a considerable amount of time (if so, I suggest you stop as it's not very conducive to comfort or health), I thought I would bring to your attention the Revlon Lip Butters. Fans of this product, please bear with me. I just feel I have to convert the rest of the world.

The Revlon Lip Butters are the perfect compromise between the boldness of a bright lip and the nourishment of a balm. They come in a huge range of colours - some 20 different hues. And they are formulated with the added goodness of mango, shea and coconut butter. Given their glossy, buttery formula, they have a pretty good lasting power. But the fact is, they are so easy to apply, you can touch-up wherever and whenever you need. I always find myself swiping it on while walking to my next class at uni - no mirror required!

The products provide a reasonably sheer colour which is buildable to, I would say, a medium coverage. These are ideal for someone who is not in the habit of wearing bright colours. There are some lovely soft colours to begin with, yet others have a bit more shizzam about them. I have in my own little collection 'Red Candy Apple' (a lovely bright red, perfect for when a bold, matte lip is too much) and Tutti Frutti (the perfect apricot/orange to compliment the warmer weather). More often than not lately, I'm wearing one of these two shades.

Note: this is the colour after being built up. The product goes on much more sheer to begin with.

I also want to add how much I love the packaging of these little beauties. They just feel a tad more luxurious than other like-products on the market. Plus, the cases give a pretty accurate description of the product colour - perfect when searching in your handbag for a touch-up.

The Revlon Lip Butters are a must for a S/S makeup look. I can imagine my collection will have grown come February next year!

What are your favourite shades from the Revlon Lip Butter range?

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Re-formulated

Ok, ok, so we all know that this cult product had a face lift a little while ago. And consequently, the entire beauty world went gaga and it featured on almost every blog/review site around the globe. I don't really intend on telling you something you already know today. I just thought I'd put my two-bobs-worth in and share how I feel about it personally.

If you are interested in the nitty-gritty, Caroline Hirons gives the perfect explanation of what's been improved/added in the re-formulation.

I will say from the off, I have always been a fan of Advanced Night Repair. I have used it as a staple for a while and go back to it after trying other things. Being the poor uni student that I am, I wasn't in the position to run out and grab the brand spanking new formula the moment it hit the stores. I did however, request a sample. (This is such a great way to try out a product before buying - if you don't already, I thoroughly suggest you do. The ladies & gents on the counters are always happy to give you samples.) I sucked the life out of it until there was nothing left to suck. It was at this point that I knew I had to get the real deal. I absolutely adored the new formulation.

I instantly noticed that it felt far less tacky than the previous bottle. The product sinks into the skin almost instantly and gives a velvety soft finish before slathering on your moisturiser of choice. Apart from this, I personally couldn't find much that differed. It smells the same. It looks the same. It's consistency is the same too. I think that's why I liked it so much. There was no radical change to get accustomed to; it's like an old friend vamped up to whole different level of awesomeness.

I do notice the difference it has made for my skin, even though my skin has been having little freak out on its own accord lately.

I really do recommend the Advanced Night Repair if you haven't tried it before. It's luxurious, and damn effective which makes it worth the price tag in my eyes.

I purchased mine at Myer and received 10% when I presented them with a 10% discount coupon that I'd saved for the occasion. That brought my 30ml bottle to a grand total of $85. I was happy with that, cheers Myer! I also got a free gift set that was being offered at the same time that held lots of goodies! You can check out what was in there in my post here.

What are your thoughts on the new formulation for ANR?

Maybelline Dream Pure BB

I have not been a fan of BB creams. Just as I haven't been a user of tinted moisturisers. I like a good coverage on my face, which I have only ever gotten from the likes of my Nars Sheer Glow or Estee Lauder Double Wear. Those sheer coverage creams just don't do it for me. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea! Working in a chemist, I frequently recommend these products to people. I just have never been impressed with them for my own personal use.

That was before I used a sample of the Maybelline Dream Pure BB from a magazine last month. I was having a study day at home and didn't intend on venturing far from the house, so I figured I'd chuck it on to see how it goes. It wouldn't matter if it was a sheer colouring. I was pretty well shocked at what it did for my skin. I'm not saying it covered my spots in one hit like my trusty Double Wear, but it definitely evened out my complexion. I found it was even a little buildable, although given that it's a moisturiser etc., I wouldn't want to plaster it on too heavy. With a little added concealer in the areas that needed assistance, I found my skin looked pretty damn good. I was really, really impressed with the sachet stuck on that glossy mag page. So I went and bought it.

It turns out this little baby acts not only to conceal imperfections, but also to treat them! It contains 2% Salicylic Acid, which helps to clear up and prevent blemishes. Like a lot of BBs, it has an added SPF of 15 which saves on another step in the morning! The Dream Pure BB from Maybelline is intended for oily skin - as a combination skin, I find I have no trouble with this.

What I did find though, while this doesn't affect me, is that it only comes in two shades (light & medium). I found this a little odd, as the Dream Fresh BB from Maybelline comes in four (fair, light, medium & medium deep). Maybelline does say that the product adjusts to your skin tone, however, I'm not sure how a darker-skinned lass would go with this. I don't think it has that much adjusting power.

This is not my go-to base product. If I'm leaving the house for any length of time (which is most days) I go for my foundation. But when I'm doing things at home or know I need to run to get groceries etc. - this is what I put on now. Who woulda thunk it?

Essie Nail Polish at Priceline!

Listen up Aussies! Just in case you haven't heard, Essie nail polishes are now available at Priceline stores and online!

One cannot fathom the excitement I felt as I casually strolled into my local Priceline store and found the gloriously new, shiny and, naturally, coloured stand that shouted Essie. I had not planned on purchasing any nail polish, but it was out of the question for me to walk on by! Unfortunately, the main colour I wanted to try, "Mint Candy Apple", was already sold out. No surprised there. But I went home with two new colours anyway.

I first picked out "Bikini So Teeny", which is a gorgeous 'cornflower' blue with the slightest shimmer. I say lightest in that it's practically unnoticeable. I love this colour going into Spring. I think it's got just enough pastel to fit on trend but still provides a hit of colour.

I also grabbed "Marshmallow" as I have been wanting a new white lately. I have recently had intentions of possibly trying my hand at nail art (I expect no masterpieces!), and I thought this would be handy as a base. I really like a plain white nail at the moment though, especially after seeing Lily sport it on her New York trip. I'm wearing this look now and love how fresh it feels. I do find it requires a little more upkeep however, as white easily stains/discolours.

My, oh, my! I am so happy to have the Essie range at my finger tips now. The colours are just to die for and you could literally spend hours deciding over which one to take home.

Happy shopping! :)

Estee Lauder Deluxe Gift Set!

Attention all you beauty buffs out there! Everyone loves an Estee Lauder Gift, don't they? That feeling as they purchase a shiny new product and are told they also receive a little present for their trouble - beyond happiness. Estee Lauder are giving away this deluxe gift set when you spend $70 or more at Myer. The offer ends this Sunday the 15th of September, so get down to your Myer store!!

I have been intending to get myself a new bottle of Lauder's ANR for a little while now and realised that there was no better time now to go for it - and I couldn't be more glad that I did. Have a little look at what you get.

You get a little something of everything in the set. I opted for the Daywear GWP, but there is a choice of this and the Advanced Time Repair GWP. In the Daywear Set you receive:

A 30ml Perfectly Clean Multi-Action Foam Cleanser/Purifying Mask.
A travel sized Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator.
A travel sized ANR Repair Eye.
A 15ml DayWear Advanced Multi-Protection Anti-Oxidant Crème SPF 15.

Each pack also includes an Estee Lauder Pure Colour lipstick in the shade Tiger Eye; a Pure Colour lip gloss in the shade Impulsive Coral and Sumptuous Extreme, my favourite mascara!

I first have to point out how much I adore the package for these. The lipstick has a summery design in aqua and purple while the lip gloss is purple with the coral coloured product showing through. They're so pretty that I would use them just for this alone!

I really love the Pure Colour lip gloss; it's a beautiful mix of strawberry and coral. I will definitely be using this in the coming months - it's the perfect Spring colour! Tiger Eye is intensely shimmery! So I don't think this will be everyone's cup of tea. It's kind of a burnt orange type of colour with a gold shimmer to it. I quite like it. I think it would look very striking in the evening, perhaps with a dark smoky eye.

This is, I think, my favourite mascara to date. It's just so darn good at giving a kick of volume. I don't find it clumpy in the slightest and it just make my eye that little bit more defined. I don't find it looks over the top, it provides quite a natural effect, but can be built up with more layers to look quite bold.

The set also provides you with a sample of Estee Lauder's brand spanking new fragrance, 'Modern Muse'. I often find that the Lauder perfumes a little too mature for me - I like lighter fragrances. This sample, therefore, took me aback. Modern Muse is a very soft, feminine scent that is, I think, of a floral centre. There are also some hints of a woody note - which I think makes this a perfect perfume for all year round. Don't let that put you off though if you don't like heavy fragrances - this is so beautifully delicate and feminine that anyone should love it! I can definitely see myself loving this through the florally months of Spring!

Encasing all of this is a perfectly sized makeup bag in a blue and aqua design.

I'm am super duper impressed with what I received, especially as it's on top of buying the newly formulated Advanced Night Repair for myself! If you've been in half a mind to get a little something from Estee Lauder lately, I urge you to bite the bullet and get yourself to Myer before Sunday! Everyone loves presents!!

Decleor Clay Herbal and Cleansing Mask

As I've mentioned in a previous post, my face has thrown a very large tantrum of late. It's been very inconvenient for me as, coming into the warmer weather, I want to start using less makeup! Yet here I am trying to cover up the many blemishes which plague my skin at the moment. At the forefront of my skincare routine is this Decleor Clay Herbal and Cleansing Mask.

This mask, like any clay mask, works to help draw out impurities. What I like about this particular one though, is that it feels so light on the skin. It doesn't set on your face like cement when it dries or crack upon the first sign of emotion that you show. In fact, you'd barely know it's there doing its magic. On top of this, it's an absolute breeze to remove. There is no scrubbing and rubbing involved like with a lot of thick, dry setting masks. One swipe does the trick - literally!

As for what's in it - it's a lot of goodness! Formulated from Green Clay, it contains a number of natural ingredients including grapefruit, blueberry, camomile, peach, horsetail and ginseng. Lots of anti-oxidants, calming and regenerative ingredients. This forms a light, refreshing fragrance that smells quite herbal.

The Clay Herbal and Cleansing mask is suitable for all skin types as it's a gentle purifying mask. Because of this, I would say there are other products that produce faster results. However, I really like this. It's a great product to use regularly, even if it is a little pricey, to maintain a clear and healthy complexion.

I got mine from StrawberryNet.com for $39.50 - it's RRP is around $46.00 so a little saving there!

What are your favourite clarifying masks?
